A QUANTITY of cannabis was seized after officers were alerted to a 'pungent smell' from a man who was sitting on a park bench.
Last night November, 19 as part of Op Enhance, Eden Neighbourhood officers were out on foot patrol at the front of Sainsbury's, Penrith car park.
In a statement on social media, Eden police said: "An officer was alerted to a 'pungent' smell coming from a male sitting on a park bench.
"Officers stopped this male and a smell of cannabis remained on this male. Eden Neighbourhood officers conducted a stop search under Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and located a small quantity of cannabis.
"This was the male's first offence, so he has been signposted to support agencies and has been dealt with by out of court disposal- Community Resolution. The cannabis was seized for destruction."
