A HIGHLY successful South Lakeland business park is openings its doors to show off its green credentials.

Staveley Mill Yard, home to a wide range of businesses, is holding a green business tour and seminar next Thursday, September 4, from 5pm-8pm.

The aim of the event, which has been organised by Cumbria Green Business Forum (CGBF), is to provide practical, affordable ideas for local businesses facing rising energy, water, transport and waste costs.

Visitors will be able to talk to businesses based at the mill yard that have made a success of being more environmentally-friendly.

The tour starts with short presentations at: l 5pm-5.15pm, Wheelbase bike store, where you can find out how to ‘green’ your business transport strategy.

l 5.30pm-5.45pm, Wilf’s Café – discover how it has reduced energy and waste costs and increased recycling.

l 6pm-6.15pm, Organico – learn how to reduce your packaging and save on transport.

l 6.30pm-6.45pm, Hawkshead Brewery, find out how to improve your environmental performance and enjoy a quality beer before a seminar starts at 7pm at the brewery’s visitor centre.

The seminar will explain why going green can be good for business and discuss issues, including waste and recycling, energy and environmental management.
