A SUPPORT service that helps businesses to plan ahead for future expansion has earned a prestigious award.
The Rural Planning Facilitation Service, run by Cumbria Rural Enterprise Agency (CREA), received the North West Best Rural Planning Project Award from the Royal Town Planning Institute as well as being shortlisted for a national category.
The innovative service has helped more than 1,600 businesses by offering advice before businesses reach the stage of submitting a planning application for new development.
Awards co-ordinator Mike Eastham said judges were impressed by the pioneering nature of the rural planning service. “Its support for the development of rural planning expertise and awareness is excellent and it is a useful model for work elsewhere in the UK.”
