A GO-AHEAD South Lakeland company is celebrating after claiming to be the first printer in the region to secure a much-coveted accolade confirming its green credentials.

Absolute Digital Print Ltd scooped the ISO 14001 certification mark from the British Standards Institution (BSI). The award is an internationally-recognised standard setting out how the Kendal firm has put in place an effective environmental management system covering all its operations.

Director Jon Wallbank said the firm was very proud to have achieved the standard, which represented another unique selling point for the business.

“It took nine months to work towards the certification and we had three full-day audits by the BSI. It’s been a real team effort,” he said.

“We have always been a great advocate of reducing wastage. All the equipment we have purchased has been bought with the aim of achieving maximum efficiency.

“A conventional printing press can take between 200 and 300 sheets to make ready, whereas our presses can be ready within one to ten sheets, thanks to the technology inherent in the machines we bought. As a result, our wastage is kept to an absolute minimum.”
