THE Countryside Alliance has welcomed a House of Lords vote this week which will see the Hunting Bill re-adjusted to allow fox hunting to continue, but with regulations.
The draft legislation presented to the Lords by MPs had proposed a total ban but the majority vote will see it altered again. Simon Hart, Chief Executive of the Countryside Alliance, said a bill that allowed licensing would represent a more “workable” solution to the issue.
The county’s hunting community gathers at Rydal Park, Ambleside, next Friday from 9.30am to declare its intent to defy any bill that makes hunting with dogs a criminal offence.
