VISITORS to a celebrated train station which gained notoriety on the silver screen will be able to enjoy two new attractions.
Carnforth Station, which featured in the classic movie ‘Brief Encounter’, now has a renewed and enhanced display about the film, with new material, facts and images.
It follows tireless research by station services manager Robin Brogden who has discovered extra information about the music of Rachmaninov, whose music soundtracks the film.
The second new attraction is a model of the station portraying activity during the making of the film and it features local man, the late Alf Bergus, who was the fireman in the film’s train scenes.
Created by Galgate railway enthusiast George Hinchcliffe, the model was unveiled by Mr Bergus’ widow Jean and son John.
