FROM the far reaches of the galaxy to the catwalks of Paris and Milan –a world of possibilities has been opened up to hard working Kirkbie Kendal School pupils.

Securing the school its best GCSE results to date, the intelligent youngsters scored top marks in all areas of the curriculum.

On results day, the school was literally buzzing with excitement and head teacher Phil Hyman was full of pride for his pupil’s achievements.

One pupil who is certainly heading for the stars is 16-year-old Sarah Monaghan, who achieved four A*, four As and two Bs.

Sarah, who plans to stay at KKS to do A levels, hopes to pursue a career in physics and astronomy one day.

“I love studying particles, atoms and motion,” she said. “Ever since I was a little girl I have been interested in astronomy and space.”

Meanwhile, fashion fanatic Hannah Smith-Saville, 16, is now well on her way to her dream of becoming a famous designer.

With a grade A in art under her belt, the talented teen, is preparing to study A level art, textiles, French and chemistry at KKS next year.

“I have been really nervous waiting for my results,” she said. “I have always liked creative subjects because you can be yourself.”
