CUMBRIANS are being urged to swap their usual bananas for Fairtrade bananas, their usual snack bar for a Fairtrade snack bar and their usual cuppa for a Fairtrade cuppa.
The Big Swap is the theme behind this year’s Fairtrade fortnight, which runs from February 22 to March 7, when Fairtrade supporters will work with churches, retailers, schools and community groups to show how easy it is to make the swap.
Events include a strictly Faritrade tea dance at the Institute in Kirkby Lonsdale on March 6 and people can join Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron and make the swap at Booths supermarket, Kendal, on Monday (February 22).
