POLICE in Morecambe are asking residents to look out for two bogus rubbish collectors who they believe are responsible for a large amount of fly-tipping.

Community Support Officer Cliff Riley says bobbies are keen to hear from anyone who may have information on the males who are telling residents they will dispose of bulky items such as beds, mattresses and cupboards.

Once they have taken money from customers they are either not returning to remove the goods or are taking them and fly-tipping in the West End area.

PCSO Riley says: "Quite simply a number of people are being conned into believing that their rubbish is being taken away and disposed of in a responsible manner. Unfortunately that is not the case and the rubbish is being tipped in many cases just a couple of streets away."

Police have descriptions of the men but want to know the registration number of a white van they are using.

The first man is white with a large build, aged about 30 and of scruffy'. His accomplice is about 20 and thin with cropped hair. To help police, call 01524-63333.
