THE KICKABOUT sessions organised and launched in October by Eden District Council, along with a number of partners, is proving to be a great success at Kirkby Stephen. For two hours (6pm to 8pm) every Friday, the astroturf pitch at KSGS Sports College is filled with 11 to 17-year-olds playing football for free. At the sessions, which are run by qualified FA coaches, the youngsters get the opportunity to play football in an informal environment and to brush up their skills with a few football drills.
The original idea for the sessions came from a discussion with KSGS Sports College back in the summer and was then taken forward and driven by Eden District Council in conjunction with Tony Adams's Sporting Chance Clinic, before becoming a reality last month.
All players, boys and girls between the ages of 11 and 17, are more than welcome at the sessions. There is no need to book just turn up, or call 07890-615926 for more details. Hurry though, there are only four weeks left!
