A REWARD of £1,000 has been offered to anyone who can provide information that leads to the prosecution of thieves who stole distinctive military memorabilia.

Andrew Doyle, of 8 Broadfield, Troutbeck Bridge, has put up the financial incentive to help catch those responsible for the raid on his home, which happened at around 4.40am on October 2 while he, his wife and two children were asleep.

Thieves broke into the garage and into the office behind to steal a Del Latitude laptop computer and digital camera, as well as an ex-military courier luggage bag and a World War Two bayonet, which used to belong to Mr Doyle's

father.

Mr Doyle said although neither items were particularly valuable, he felt they were so distinctive that they would only be sold through specialist antique dealers, and believed if they could be found, they could lead to the thieves being traced.

He described the courier bag as being made out of very thick brown leather, which was heavily grained and was rough to the touch.

It was hand-stitched, with a single shoulder strap and black metal belt clip on the back, with a buckled-down flap.

It is about 12 inches tall, by four inches deep and six inches wide.

The bayonet is in pristine condition, about 12-14 inches long with a wooden handle.

Also stolen from the garage was a brand new fly fishing reel, shimano ultegra fly model in a grey cover.

Anyone who spots these items or has any information is asked to call DC Robinson at Kendal Police on 01539-722611.
