PADDLERS braved wind and rain for a charity Dragon Boat race on Windermere which raised nearly £1,300 for breast cancer research.
The Wear It Pink event, organised by Osprey Communications, pitted a Paddlers for Life team against a team of Cumbrian journalists including The Westmorland Gazette’s reporter Kate Proctor.
Racing two spectacular dragon boats, the teams set off from the Low Wood Bay watersports centre and raced twice round a 250-metre course.
Paddlers for Life won both races despite support for the media team from staff of English Lakes Hotels.
Tim Berry from English Lakes Hotels said: “We’re delighted that so many journalists have been such good sports and took part.”
Paddlers for Life aims to rebuild the health and confidence of people facing cancer through dragon boating racing.
