A shop, owned and run by the community, has been nominated for another award.
Burton-in-Lonsdale Village Shop is a Yorkshire finalist in the 2010 Countryside Alliance Awards.
It is one of three nominations for the best village shop/post office and will learn later this month whether it has got through to the national final.
The shop, which was bought by the community in 2005, was named best rural retailer in the North West in 2007 and 2008.
“We are very pleased with the latest nomination,” said Gail Lister, who runs the shop with Marie Shorrock and postmistress Carolyn Stephenson.
“We are a community shop, owned and run by the community.
"We always try to source our products locally and during the recent bad weather the shop has been a diamond, offering a delivery service to elderly people who could not get out of their homes.
"We are a lifeline and have excellent support from the community,” said Gail.
