RETAIL giant Boots and other independent pharmacies are taking part in a codeword scheme that offers a "lifeline" to domestic abuse victims.
All 2,300 Boots branches, together with 330 other chemist shops, are now taking part in the Government's ANI scheme which allows those at risk to discreetly signal for help.
Trained team members will offer a private space where they can find out how they can help the victim.
The scheme will be promoted using discreet social media adverts and pharmacies will also be given promotional material to display in store to signal their participation.
