Booths has announced that its new store in Penrith will open on November 15.

The store, which will be located on Brunswick Road, will be the 28th store operated by the family-run retailer.

The store will create more than 80 new jobs in the town and stock Cumbrian sourced produce.

It will also showcase a new café concept for Booths. The Booths Café, which will be rolled out into other stores following the Penrith launch, places a strong emphasis on quality, freshly prepared food made in-store on the day of purchase.

The store also includes numerous ‘green’ features within its design to minimise its impact on the environment, such as a heat recovery system, an advanced refrigeration system, glass doors on the fridges, and the stores voltage use will be monitored to ensure excessive energy is not wasted.

There will also be rain harvesting to be used to flush toilets and also in washing machines.

Richard Sykes, manager of the Booths Penrith store, said: “It is with great pride that we can announce that we will be opening our doors to the public on Tuesday, November 15.

“Booths has wanted to come to Penrith for quite some time and I know that many people living here have also been keen to see a Booths’ store in the town.

"It will be fantastic to become part of the town’s community.

"We are very much looking forward to bringing the very best produce from around Booths Country to Penrith and Eden.”

The new Booths store will sell produce from local businesses such as the Little Salkeld Watermill, Bells and the Appleby Creamery.

Other Cumbrian produce includes Herdwick lamb from a number of Cumbrian farms.

Eric Taylforth, a Herdwick farmer from Great Langdale, is appearing on a series of posters for the family-run company within its 26 stores.
