Kendal opened their Northern Premier Cricket League season with a fine 15-point win over Fulwood and Broughton (FB).

Winning the toss, Kendal skipper Chris Miller chose to bat first on a sunny but cool opening day.

Miller opened the batting with Paul Dodds but soon departed, falling LBW to his opposite number FB captain Jon Fenton after scoring just 7, Kendal 7-1.

Harry Lee was the next Kendal wicket to fall when he chipped one up to point for 8 runs, Kendal 25-2.

Paul Doods soon followed leaving his ground and getting stumped by Sambell off Jackson's bowling, Kendal 36-3.

Ollie Tyson joined the Kendal professional Rongsen Jonathan at the crease and the pair put on 67 for the 4th wicket with Tyson contributing 20 before falling LBW to FB proressional Sonal Dinusha, Kendal 103-4.

Sam Fletcher departed soon after without score, Kendal 104-5.

Jonathan carried on before stumbling at the crease and was out stumped for 74 runs with the score on 138-6, his innings lasted for 102 balls and contained 5 fours and 2 sixes.

The remaining Kendal batsmen took the score on to 152-7 off the allotted 50 overs.

When the FB reply started Kuldeep Singh claimed the first wicket getting opener Matthew Rosbottom to edge a drive to Matt Park at gully, F&B 12-1.

Ben Parkinson and Sonal Dinusha then put on 58 for the 2nd wicket before Parkinson was bowled by Jonathan for 21, FB 70-1.

The dangerous-looking Dinusha departed soon after scoring a fine 41 LBW to Jonathan, FB 71-3.

Miller and Jonathan then continued ripping through the FB middle order claiming the wickets of the Smith brothers, Matthew and Mark, and 'keeper Sambell before Singh returned to mop up the tail and finish with figures of 7.2-1-12-4.

Miller's bowling figures showed a return of 3-39 off his 15 overs while Rongsen Jonathan topped off a fine all-round performance with a bowling analysis of 15-4-3-40.
