KENDAL Triathlon Club members are in full swing of race season and have had a number of successes.

Husband and wife Paddy and Kath Finn have had a great weekend at Chester, Paddy in the Aquabike was first in his age group and Kath was second, giving them both World Championship Qualification for the Standard Distance Aquabike in Spain next year.

The following weekend was The Lakesman Triathlon. There were a number of different distance events. Paddy Finn, aged 65 has come back from heart issues which started 4yrs ago and completed Ironman distance in a time of 13hours and 49mins.

Ironman distance is 1.9km swim 90km bike ride and a full marathon distance of 90km.

Adam Buxton was 11th overall and first in the age group 25 to 29. Adam said, “My goal for next year is to do a branded ironman with the intention of qualifying for Kona.”

On the same day was the 'Day in the Lakes Ullswater' orgainised by Epic Events. Ben Hodgeson in the 1/2 Ironman came fifth overall and looked pretty happy about it.

Newcomer this year Lucy Johnson did brilliantly. Sylvia and Honor Coombs represented the over 60's in fine style in the ¼ ironman distance, loving the trail run.

Special mention for Vikki McGarry who toughed out the ½ ironman distance despite a current spinal condition and was awarded a spot prize.

Kerry Bryne (3hrs 42m) and Sarah Griggs (3hrs 13m) took part in the Coniston End to End 5.25ml Swim over the weekend. The wind was blowing- which made for some swift swimming but brought it’s own challenges.
