FIREFIGHTERS were called to a chip pan fire in Burnley.

Two engines were called to Nairne Street at around 6.50pm on Friday.

A fire service spokesman said the fire had been put out when the crews arrived, however first aid was given to a person who suffered from slight burns.

Crews were at the house for around 35 minutes and paramedics were called to treat the person with burns.

According to the Lancashire Fire and Rescue's website, around 500 cooking fires were recorded in the county last year.

The fire service advise to never throw water over a chip pan fire.
