THE director of music at Blackburn Cathedral has started a search for the best young singers in the area to join its choir.
Samuel Hudson is visiting primary schools before a special recruitment morning for potential choristers at Lancashire's premier Anglican Church on Saturday October 13.
He said: “As another school year begins I am looking to find the best five singers in each primary school years three to six, from across the Blackburn area to offer them a place in the Cathedral choir.
“I am visiting local schools to find these singers, telling pupils a little bit about what is involved.
“The recruitment morning means I will be able to welcome the best young singers in Blackburn to the Cathedral so they can meet the other choristers and have a go at singing with them to find out what it's really like to be in the choir.
“New recruits don't need to have any experience or any prior musical training, just an enthusiasm for singing, a good musical ear and commitment.”
