A THEATRE production with dance and music will celebrate the contribution of soldiers from the Indian sub-continent to the allied forces in the First World War.
The performance of 'The Troth' at Blackburn Cathedral is on Monday November 19 , eight days after the centenary of the Armistice which ended the 1914/1918 conflict.
It unfolds the story of an Indian soldier Lehna Singh moving from rural Punjab to the Belgian trenches where he makes the ultimate sacrifice to fulfil a secret promise
Inspired by the classic Hindi short story 'Usne Kaha Tha', the show is presented by Akademi, the UK’s leading producer of Indian dance.
Award-winning choreographer Gary Clarke uses contemporary dance, film and music by Shri Sriram to tell the story.
It reveals the contribution to the war effort more than 1.3 million Indians.
Tickets for the show staged at 7.30pm are £5.
