A TOWN square was buzzing with sound, colour and sunshine as hundreds of people took part in Amazing Accrington’s Biggest Weekend event.

The square was transformed into an outdoor garden where teams played a family interactive quiz.

Free live music, fairground rides and community stalls were also set up over the weekend.

On Sunday, the Fantastical Forest Parade made its way through the town centre where people donned huge puppet outfits, including a 15-foot giant.

The organisers included Adventure Hyndburn, the Arts Council, Hyndburn Council and the Civic Arts Centre.

Hyndburn Council leader, Cllr Miles Parkinson said: “It’s been a fantastic weekend which brought crowds into the heart of Accrington to enjoy a packed programme of events with lots of fun and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.

“Thank you to everyone who came along for Amazing Accrington’s Biggest Weekend, and to the organisers and community volunteers for making it all possible.

“Also a huge thank you to all the other community groups and organisations who have put on so many other marvellous family events in the borough over this weekend too, bringing the community together and raising money for local charities as well.”
