BLACKBURN Market’s first vegan stall has opened up for trading.
The Vegan Deli is owned by Bev Ormerod and her husband, Dave, and will serve a variety of vegan delights.
There will be vegan samosas, sausage rolls, curries and pies on offer.
Mrs Ormerod, 58, also has a range of sweet treats including vegan chocolate brownies and low calorie, vegan-friendly, soft drinks.
Mr Ormerod, 53, said the pair have been together for 20 years and wanted to take on this new challenge.
He said: “We've run a buttie van for several years but the weather can restrict your trade. We came across this space in the market and thought it would be a great idea to take it on.
“I have been vegan for around eight years now and I love it.”
Mrs Ormerod said: “The market doesn’t have a vegan stall and it was missing it.
“We can now offer something else to the market.
“We want to help the environment by eating less meat as well as improving people’s health.”
The couple, who have four children and eight grandchildren, will be on the market Monday to Saturday, from 9am to 5pm.
Mrs Ormerod said: “We hope to please lots of customers and look forward to trading in the market.”
