Just one town in Lancashire has made it into the top ten list of rainiest places in Britain.

While it may not be an accolade to be proud of (what town would ever want to be known for having the most rainfall each year?), it might come as a surprise to many living in the county, as no other towns in Lancashire even make it to the top 50 (no, really).

In data compiled by shower company, showerstoyou.co.uk, Blackpool sits at seventh in the league table, behind Glasgow, Cardiff, Huddersfield, Plymouth, Swansea and Belfast.

The Westmorland Gazette:

The total average rainfall for Blackpool is 882.7mm per year, which equates to 73.6mm per month.

Blackpool also suffers 145.5 days' worth of rain per year - almost five calender months.

But if you thought that was bad, Glasgow has almost six months of rain per year.

With an average of 12.1 days of rain per month, Blackpool's rainiest time of year is, unsurprisingly, October, which seems to be the case across the board.

So, if you're planning a sunny staycation in Lancashire this year, better to visit the seaside resort in summer, unless you don't mind getting a tad bit wet.
