OFF-ROAD bikers have been disturbing rare nesting birds, according to police reports.
Ribble Valley Rural Task Force officers say that they have been in Salter Fell where residents have raised concerns.
They have warned that off-road bikers could have a negative impact on the bird population and say they are working with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds to address this problem.
A police spokesperson said: "We know the area is used responsibility by a large number of bikers but unfortunately a small few choose to ride off the right of way which carries the real prospect of driving these birds away.
"We'll continue to work with our partners including the RSPB to eradicate this problem so that everyone can continue to enjoy the diverse nature the Forest of Bowland offers."
