HEALTH trusts across Lancashire have recorded no new deaths from coronavirus in NHS England's latest daily round-up.

The figures were released on April 10 and covered the previous day's findings.

They show that East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, which administers Royal Blackburn and Burnley General Hospitals and Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust both recorded no new deaths leaving the total number recorded at 1018 and 9 respectively.

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, which administers Chorley and South Ribble Hospital along with Royal Preston Hospital also reported no new deaths, leaving the total death recorded at 697.

Further afield, Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust followed suit with no new fatalities reported, with total deaths remaining at 763 and 555.

In total 3 new deaths were recorded across England, 2 of which were in the North West.

This brings the total deaths since the start of the pandemic in England to 86,577, 14,196 of which have been in the North West.

The new daily findings follow on from the government's most recent weekly report which found that Blackburn with Darwen, at one point the borough with the highest infection rate in England, was continuing to record fewer new infections.

The report found that in five areas, the number of new cases registered in the week to April 5 were so low that no data has been released by the government, in order to protect the identities of those who have contracted the virus.

This only applies when fewer than three new cases have been recorded.

Infection rates have continued to drop elsewhere in the borough, with only a handful of new cases detected in areas such as Ewood and Fenhurst, Central Blackburn and Bastwell.

In the area of Witton, Mill Hill and Hollin Bank 14 new cases were identified, making this one of the few areas in Blackburn with Darwen with an increased rate.

All figures have been taken from NHS England and are correct as of April 11.
