People were told by fire crews to keep their windows and doors closed on Monday morning after 10 tonnes of straw and hay set on fire.
At around 6.30am, six fire engines were called to a large fire in Cockerham which involved two farm buildings containing 10 tonnes of straw and hay.
Despite there being no road closures in place, people were advised to keep their windows and doors closed due to the amount of smoke in the area.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: "At 6.34am six fire engines from Preesall, Lancaster, Bispham, Bolton-le-Sands, Fulwood and the aerial ladder platform from Morecambe were mobilised to a fire on Gulf Lane, Cockerham.
Firefighters are currently at the scene of an outbuilding fire in Cockerham. There is no road closure in place however there may be smoke in the area so residents are advised to keep their windows and doors closed at this time. https://t.co/hvU0ghjjsP

"The incident involved two outbuildings containing 10 tonnes of straw and hay.
"Firefighters used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels and a 45mm jet."
At 8.17am residents were advised to keep windows and doors closed while fire crews remained battling the blaze.
