THE opening round of The Senior Bowling League began on Monday and with fifty three teams fighting it out across five divisions it promises to be another exciting season.

In Division One, there was a win for Warton A who defeated Lower Holker A 7-1, while Silverdale defeated Burneside A by the same score.

Netherfield A whitewashed Netherfield's B Team 8-0, while Lindale A eased home with a 6-2 win over Bolton-le-Sands.

The final two games were more competitive, as Holme A won 5-3 at Kirkby Lonsdale A, while Springfield A saw off Levens A by the same score.

In Division Two, Subscription A opened with a comfortable 7-1 win over Endmoor A in the local derby.

Arnside defeated Crosthwaite A 6-2, while Ingleborough's A Team won by the same score as they eased past Warton's B Team.

Carnforth A won 7-1 at Heversham A and Windermere A defeated Milnthorpe A 6-2.

Carnforth's B team defeated Staveley's A Team 5-3 in the opening round of games in Division Three. Victoria A defeated Springfield B 6-2.

Abbott Hall A saw off Subscription B 6-2, while Burneside edged Bowness B 5-3 and Lower Holker B defeated Lindale B side 6-2.

The most competitive games in Division Four came from Allithwaite and Abbott Hall's B side who drew 4-4. Silverdale B won 5-3 at Crosthwaite B.

In the other games it was more one sided as Holme B, Levens B and Endmoor B picked up maximum points with 6-2 wins.

The first round closed in Division Five as Heversham B, Windermere B, Netherfield C, Arnside B and Bowness B all got off to a winning start. The closest game seeing Windermere B edge past Burton In Lonsdale 5-3.
