With reference to the article about the preservation of swifts (May 14, page 75) I think your readers may be interested to know that 'Men in Sheds', under the auspices of Age UK Kendal, is doing its bit.
Swift boxes have been made and installed at the top of the Parish Church tower and a location in Plumgarth
One of the 'men' with the technological skill has fitted, by these boxes, a miniature electronic device which plays the call of swifts so to attract new 'residents'.
Incidentally, once this 'lockdown' is over, should anyone want to have a swift or bird box then do drop into 'Men in Sheds' at the back of Age UK's warehouse and I'm sure you will be accommodated.
