There were goals galore in Division One when Askam United met struggling Bolton County.

Both teams are languishing near the bottom of the table but they served up a thriller for the spectators as a nail-biting encounter finished 4-3 to United.

Bolton, with a goal difference of minus 16 after just eight games, were expected to ship several goals, but they fought hard to peg back Askam's lead following goals from Andy Higginson,

Callum Rayner, Lawrence Smithson and Kris McLean.

The win means Askam can now see daylight between themselves and the relegation zone.

Turning to the other games, Ambleside suffered at the hands of high-flying Fulwood Amateurs who put in a very professional display from the start, eventually running out 3-0 winners.

It was no disgrace for Ambleside to lose to a team that is joint top with two games in hand.

GSK Ulverston ground out a stalemate in the battle for mid table supremacy drawing 2-2 at home with Mill Hill St Peters.

But that point keeps the pressure on the sides above them and they are snapping at Ambleside's heels after drawing level with them on 11 points.

In Division Two Kendal County secured a comfotable 2-0 win over local rivals Millom thanks to well taken goals from Jason Tucker and Jordan Knowles.

This victory lifted them above Millom into seventh place and puts a five point gap between them.

If County's recent good form continues they could launch a charge towards the top of the table as they are only eight points off the pace at present.

Croston suffered a 1-0 defeat to second place Ladybridge.

That defeat may prove pivotal at the end of the season as fifth placed Croston missed out on the chance to take points off the free-scoring Ladybridge and reduce the gap between them to just one point.

Milnthorpe Corintians also stared defeat in the eye on Saturday after a spirited 2-1 defeat to CMB who are looking good in fourth place.

Corinthians could be in a spot of trouble as, with just eight points amassed so far this campaign, they are only four points away from the foot of the table.
