It was a high scoring afternoon of action in The Westmorland Football League with some thrilling results.

In the first round of The Benevolent Trophy, Kendal County's Reserves eased past Langwathby Utd after a comfortable 3-0 win - Blake Wilson, Connor Walmsley and Bradley Thompson grabbing the goals.

In the other trophy games, Ambleside Utd edged-out Kendal Utd 3-2, Braithwaite defeated Corinthians Reserves 4-3 and Sedbergh Wanderers cruised past Carleton Banks in a 4-1 win - Robert Close and Jack Leddy amongst the goal scorers.

In Westmorland League Division One, Keswick go 16 points clear at the top of the table following a hard fought 3-1 win against Ibis.

Richard Bannister, Andrew Frampton and Declan Robinson scored for the winners.

In the other games, a Barry Stockdales strike was enough for Wetheriggs Utd to beat Unisun Athletic 1-0 at Melbourne Park, while Kirkoswald went third in the table thanks to a 6-1 win at Windermere, Division Two leaders Wetheriggs Utd Reserves remain two points clear despite being held to a 2-2 draw with Staveley Utd.

Pirelli defeated Burneside 4-1 at home, while Daniel Fletcher and Antony Stafford were on target as Keswick Reserves won 2-1 at Shap.

The final game of Division Two saw Coniston run out 5-2 winners against Greystoke.

In Westmorland League Division Three Burneside Reserves are now five points clear at the top after sticking nine past Penrith Saints.

Scott O'Callaghan cannot be far from writing his name into the league record books after scoring seven goals which Dean McNeill and Lee McNeill completed the rout.

Endmoor KGRS Reserves made it three wins on the spin after edging Lunesdale Utd out 4-3 at Woodside Road.

James Garner scored a couple with Antony Swanton and Shaun Gardner also finding the target.

Dent's Reserves won 3-2 at Greystokes Reserves while Ibis Reserves came from 4-1 down to draw 4-4 with Ullswater Utd.

Eden Thistle secured a 3-0 victory at Penrith Academy while a Jack Barkers brace eased Windermere's Reserves to a 5-1 win at Penrith Royal.
