Kendal Town battled back to defeat Colwyn Bay 2-1 at the newly named ST & B Accountants Stadium.

The visitors opened the scoring after 30 minutes following a well taken goal by Danny Bartles, Kendal equalised nine minutes later when Ben Thomas scored an free kick.

However, Charlie Bowman’s penalty midway through the second half guided the hosts to victory.

Kendal made a positive start and created the first opportunity when Paul Dawson’s powerful effort on goal was tipped over the bar by Colwyn Bay goalkeeper Matt Cooper.

Colwyn Bay, who had lost four straight games, struggled while Kendal continued to dominate the opening exchanges.

The visitors began to create problems for Kendal after Danny Andrews saw his effort dip over the bar, while a good spell of pressure saw Andrews shot on goal blocked by the Kendal defence.

The Bay continued to create chances through Kyle Jacobs who blazed over the bar before Jack Hindle's powerful drive was tipped away for a corner by Kendal debutant Charlie Wittingham.

Colwyn Bay opened the scoring after 30 minutes after Danny Bartles curled the ball into the far corner of the net. Bartles cut inside before collecting a reverse pass by Andrews while Kendal’s defence was caught off guard.

Kendal equalised nine minutes later after Ben Thomas unleashed an unstoppable free kick into the top left hand corner.

In the second half Kendal pressed the visitors and applied pressure through a succession of corners that were all cleared by the Colwyn Bay defence.

Kendal continued to probe while Gaul, Seear and Bowman unsettled the Colwyn Bay defenders who stood up well to the attacking threat.

However Kendal were awarded a penalty after 65 minutes when Connor Gaul was tripped in the penalty area by Louis Barnes. Charlie Bowman stepped up and drilled the penalty into the bottom right hand corner as Kendal edged ahead.

From that point Kendal were comfortable, while both Gaul and Seear forced the visiting keeper into action.

Colwyn Bay's best effort came in injury time after Jamie Rainford fired the ball wide from close range as Kendal held on for a crucial win.

Kendal travel to relegation threatened Ossett Albion on Saturday, in what will be the first of two trips to Ossett before they face Ossett Town two weeks on Saturday.
