THE Benevolent Trophy was the main attraction while there was a number of games played in The James Cropper Westmorland League on a busy Saturday afternoon of action.

Keswick progressed into the next round of the Benevolent Trophy after a dramatic 2-1 extra time victory over trophy holders Appleby.

Appleby, who had a number of players missing through injury, pushed Keswick all the way. But goals by Richard Bannister and Declan Robinson saw the Division One table toppers progress.

In the other games Nathan Dixon's brace and James Halton's goal saw Endmoor progress into the next round following a comprehensive 3-0 win against AFC Carlisle.

Burneside pulled off the shock of the round after winning 6-2 at Sedbergh. Burneside, who are in Division Three, impressed against the Division One outfit, before Connor Stephenson’s brace and goals by Jay Hayton, Connor Crawshaw Collins, Daniel Grindley and Daniel Shepherd saw the visitors progress.

Wetheriggs United eased past Langwathby United 6-2 while in the final game Dent defeated Kirkby Stephen 4-3 after extra time, Ben Sedgwick, James Gardiner, Richard Thexton and David Burton with the goals.

In James Cropper Westmorland League Division One, goals by Tyler Park and Tyler James saw Ibis win 2-0 at Castletown United, while hat tricks from Ryan Bell and Niall Renwick eased Kirkoswald to an emphatic 6-2 win at Shap.

Matt Kennedy's brace and Joel Nicholson's goal saw Kendal United Reserve draw 3-3 with Eden Thistle in Division Two.

In the other games Appleby Reserve won 3-2 at Ibis Reserve, Ambleside won by the same score with victory against Greystoke, while Keswick Reserve defeated Staveley United 4-1.

In Division Three, Braithwaite defeated Ullswater United 5-4, Wetheriggs United Reserve won 4-2 at Lunesdale United, Penrith Academy defeated Penrith Saints 3-0, while Endmoor KGR Reserve won 6-4 at Penrith Royal.
