KESWICK are still nine points clear at the top of James Cropper Westmorland League Division One after a narrow 2-1 win at Wetheriggs United.

Elsewhere, James Crawford’s strike saw Appleby beat Castletown United 1-0 in a fiery encounter which saw two Castletown players sent off, and Haydon Wilson’s goal edged Penrith Reserves to a 1-0 win at Endmoor while Ibis beat Shap 2-0 thanks to strikes by Cory Robinson and Josh Hardaker.

Keswick Reserves continue to lead the way in Division Two following a dramatic 4-4 draw against Kirkby Stephen – battling back from 4-2 down with ten minutes to go to claim a point.

Charlie Robson scored twice, while Ewan Clark and Adam Gaskell were also on the scoresheet as Kirkby Stephen replied through Harry Jones (2), Dan Robinson and Damon McNaughton.

Kendal United Reserves and Staveley battled out a 2-2 draw at Castle Drive, where Matt Kennedy and Joe Carradus were on target for the home team and Staveley’s goals came from Nico Noreci and Connor Stephenson.

Antony Lund’s six goal haul saw Appleby Reserves rout AFC Carlisle 7-2, and goals by Dan Wilson and Nathan Close edged Dent to a 2-1 win against Eden Thistle while Ambleside United won 4-1 at Greystoke and Windermere Reserves defeated Kendal County Reserves 2-0.

In Division Three, Burneside moved to within one point of leaders Penrith Academy following a 6-1 home victory over Sedbergh Reserves. Jay Hayton (2), Connor Crawshaw, Collins McNeill, C Taylor and C Marshall all scored.

Penrith Academy scored three times in the last five minutes to run out 3-1 winners against Kirkoswald Reserves. thanks to Shaun Askins, Greg Hall and Niall Clifford.

Penrith Royal defeated Staveley Reserves 3-1, Lunesdale United beat Langwathby 3-2, Braithwaite won 3-1 at Penrith Saints and Wetheriggs Reserves won 4-3 at Ullswater United.
