A VERY youthful Windermere Men’s 2s side lost 2-3 at Ormskirk in their NW League 5 match after being 2-1 up at half-time.
Will Ganniclifft gave 'Mere the lead when he deflected in a Jamie Hill cross and, although Ormskirk levelled, 'Mere dominated play for long spells.
Skipper Jason Balmer put them ahead in a goalmouth scramble and 'Mere had another three clear-cut opportunities to score before the break.
Young full-backs Orran Brownell and Joe Carter gave 'Mere an extra dimension on the wings but 'Mere’s enterprising play faded in the last quarter and Ormskirk bounced back with an equaliser and then the winner in the closing stages.
Mere’s man of the match was Jamie Hill.
* Windermere Ladies 2s came from two goals down to lose 2-3 in a friendly match with Kirkby Stephen Juniors on Sunday. Raine Wickens and Annabel Wilson scored for Mere.
