DEFENDING Division One Champions Victoria A were held to a 5-5 draw with Levens A on what proved to be a dramatic week of action in The Kendal and District Bowling League.

Levens, who have been in good form, remain third in the table after they pushed Victoria all the way on Tuesday night.

Levens made a good start after Aiden Milliard defeated Martin Gilpin 21-20, but Ian Nicholson picked up the first points for the home team when he edged out Daniel Edmonds by the same score.

Jonathan Cooper claimed the best result for Victoria after seeing off Graham Edwards 21-12, while both Alan Gilpin and Keith Atkinson picked up respective wins over Paul Kissock and James Dennison.

Ira Collier continued to claim points for Victoria after battling past Violet Dennison 21-18. However, Levens fought back through Billy Harding, who won 21-18 against Chris Wyatt, before Steve Greenway defeated Michael Wilson Junior 21-11.

In the other games Holme A are nine points clear of Victoria A following a resounding 10-0 victory against Burton A.

Netherfield A won 7-3 at Staveley A, while Victoria B won by the same score at Hale A, Windermere A defeated Burneside A 6-4 and Lindale A picked up a 7-3 win against Holme B.

Burton B are nine points clear at the top of Division Two after an impressive 8-2 win against Ambleside B. Levens B and Windermere B were also 8-2 winners with respective victories against Allithwaite A and Netherfield C while Abbot Hall A and Subscription C picked up 7-2 wins over Crosthwaite A and Ambleside A.

In Division Three Holme C edged out Endmoor A 6-4, Arnside A defeated Windermere C 7-3, Milnthorpe A ran out 8-2 winners against Allithwaite, Victoria C won 7-3 at Allithwaite B, Heversham A defeated Ingleborough A 8-2, while Lower Holker A impressed with a 9-1 victory against Sedbergh.

All teams in Division Four picked up the same results, after Abbot Hall B, Arnside B,Victoria D, Hawkshead, Burneside B and Lower Holker B all claimed respective 8-2 wins against Hale B, Subscription B, Lindale B, Langdale, Bowness A and Netherfield D.

In Division Five Holme D, Lindale C, Staveley B, Kirkby Lonsdale B and Burneside C all picked up crucial wins, while in Division Six the stand-out game saw Silverdale win 9-1 at Allithwaite D.
