KENDAL Seconds picked up wins in both the league and cup on what proved to be a good weekend for the team.

On Saturday Kendal defeated St Anne’s by four wickets at Shap Road. There were two wickets apiece by David Batty, Alec Carradus and Andrew Dugdale, which saw St Anne’s restricted to 123-8 off 45 overs. Lee Rimmer scored 42 for the visitors with David Bartholomew contributing 31.

In reply Shane Hyland's undefeated 54 off 133 balls saw Kendal close on 124-6 off 42.5 overs.

On Sunday Kendal progressed into the next round of The Loxham Cup after they won by eight wickets at Torrisholme's Second Team.

David Batty returned first innings figures of 3-24 while both Will Yarker and Harry Lee picked up two wickets each, with Torrisholme restricted to 140-8.

However, Richard Dakin's undefeated second innings knock of 68 and David Batty's 53 saw Kendal chase the runs down in 31.3 overs, closing on 141-2.

Netherfield Seconds remain second from bottom in Division One B after crashing to a heavy nine-wicket defeat at Chorley.

Netherfield struggled in the first innings after being restricted to a below par total of 107-9 off 45 overs.

James Bowman top scored with 26 while Samuel Medhurst scored 20. Chris Harty weighed in with figures of 3-15.

In reply Chorley knocked the runs off in just 20 overs, closing on 108-1, Tomas Miles undefeated with 64, while Samuel Medhurst claimed the only wicket after he bowled Kyle Dixon.

Kendal Seconds travel to play Fulwood and Broughton Seconds, while Netherfield host Blackpool, before travelling to play Haverigg in The John Scott Cup on Sunday.
