VICTORIA A climbed to the top of Division One of the South Westmorland Senior Bowling League on Bank Holiday Monday after they won 8-0 at Subscription A.

They were able to take full advantage of a slip by defending champions Netherfield A who lost 6-2 at Silverdale A.

In the other top flight games, Burneside A defeated Netherfield B 6-2, Lindale A edged out Holme A 5-3,Windermere A saw off Warton A 6-2 and Springfield A and Levens A drew 4-4.

Carnforth A are top of Division Two after they won 6-2 at Kirkby Lonsdale A, Crosthwaite A were 5-3 winners at Arnside A, Bolton-le-Sands defeated Warton B 6-2, while both Lower Holker A and Heversham A picked up respective 7-1 victories against Allithwaite A and Ingleborough A.

There was also a busy programme of games in Division Three where Bowness A won the battle of the bottom two after they defeated Abbot Hall B 6-2.

Bowness started well when Beatrice Wilson easily overcame Terry White 21-5 and Roy Thompson battled past Diane Ingham 21-15 while Jeanie Kirby saw off Peter Coxon 21-4 and Mike Shuttleworth also chalked up an easy win.

Abbot Hall did at least win both of the double games.

Fred Ingham and Mike Taylor defeated Russ Daniels and Robin Holliday 21-13 while Keith Daniels and Ron Butler were also 21-13 winners after they saw off Christine Jones and Hilary Holliday, but despite their valiant efforts, their team remain bottom on 19 points.

In the other games, Lower Holker B won 5-3 at Lindale while Milnthorpe A defeated Burneside B 7-1.

Elsewhere, Carnforth B edged out Sedbergh B 5-3 while Levens B and Endmoor A both picked up respective 6-2 victories against Burton-in-Lonsdale and Hawkshead.
