FRUSTRATED Kendal and their rivals Netherfield were both left kicking their heels on Saturday as rain swept away both sides’ hopes of continuing their fine start to the Northern League campaign.

Netherfield’s much anticipated clash at in form Fulwood & Broughton was called off without a ball being bowled, as was Kendal’s home clash against struggling Penrith.

Both sides will be eager to get back in action on Saturday when Netherfield entertain Fleetwood, who lost to Leyland on Saturday in the only game to escape the weather, while Kendal travel to Garstang.

And Chris Miller’s Kendal side are also in T20 action on Sunday where they play a double header at Shap Road against Fulwood & Broughton and Garstang, with the action getting underway at noon.

With each clubs’ second XI game also being washed out on Saturday, the spotlight fell on Kendal Thirds who defeated Bare Seconds by four wickets in a Westmorland League Division Four game.

Bare were all out for 131 against a youthful Kendal side who knocked off the runs for the loss of six wickets with Will Yarker hitting a fine half-century.
