THE TV cameras will come to Kendal next week when Carus Green Golf Club hosts The Trilby Tour Regional Championship.

The event, which is being hosted at the venue for the third year running, takes place on Tuesday, June 18, when 144 players from all over the UK compete for the trophy.

With annual viewership figures of more than 3.5 million, the Trilby Tour is officially the largest amateur golf television series in Europe.

Keen to retain his title on his home course is last year’s winner Mike Turner, a Carus Green GC employee and three times club champion.

Also competing this year for the 12th consecutive time is Bob Whiteley, who proposed to his partner Allyson Shepherd on the first tee at last year’s event.

The couple will be married at Carus Green on Monday, the evening before the event

“Following the incredible success of the previous 2 events, we are delighted to once again be hosting the Cumbrian regional championship of this year’s Trilby Tour,” said Carus Green owner Graham Curtin.

“Carus is a fresh, modern and ambitious club, with exceptional facilities; the triumph of last year’s event demonstrated our standing as the North of England’s premier golfing destination.

"That the Trilby Tour organisers have deemed us worthy of hosting this prestigious event for a third time, is a fantastic compliment and we are very much looking forward to it.”

Spectators are welcome at the event when there will be food and drink available all day.
