SUBSCRIPTION A belied their recent poor form as they picked up a crucial 6-2 victory against Lindale A in the South Westmorland Senior Bowling League Division One.

Subscription, who have been fighting relegation played well against a Lindale team that were in the top five.

Subscription won the first points after Isobel Williamson edged out Barbara Petit 21-20, while Colin Haworth picked up the best result with an impressive 21-9 victory over Michael Atkinson.

Nina Waite added further points to the home team when she saw off Mark Heywood 21-17, while Lindale battled back after Audrey Silvester won 21-15 over Marj Park.

However in the doubles David Llewellyn and Doreen Robinson impressed after they saw off Lindale’s Bob Moseley and Robert Howarth 21-9.

Lindale in the end claimed the consolation point through Bill and Laraine Keating when they defeated Trevor Jeffery and Bob Travis 21-15.

In the other games, Victoria A remained on top of the division after they won 6-2 at Windermere A, defending Champions Netherfield A saw off Burneside A 8-0,while Silverdale A, Holme A and Warton A all picked up respective 7-1 victories against Levens A, Netherfield A and Springfield A.

Carnforth A continued to dominate at the top of Division Two after they defeated Allithwaite A 8-0,Kirkby Lonsdale A saw off Crosthwaite A 7-1, Abbot Hall A edged out Ar nside A 5-3, while Ingleborough A and Lower Holker A both picked up respective 6-2 victories against Warton B and Heversham A.

In Division Three, Lindale B defeated Burton in Lonsdale 7-1, Bowness A won 5-3 at Burneside B before Levens B, Carnforth B and Lower Holker Ball claimed respective 6-2 wins against Milnthorpe A, Hawkshead and Sedbergh B.

Both Subscription B and Windermere B picked up 5-3 wins over Ingleborough B and Crosthwaite B in Division Four, while in the other games Kirkby Lonsdale B won 7-1 at Victoria B while Allithwaite B saw off Holme B 7-1.

In Division Five, Bolton Le Sands B, Endmoor B,Sedbergh A and Arnside B all picked up crucial wins.
