A CONVINCING performance from Martin Gilpin saw him clinch the Glaxo County Cup singles competition at the GSK Bowling Club in Ulverston.
The Kendal man saw off Ian France Snr, Danny Edmonds, Mark Curwen and Billy Thornton and in the semi-final Bob Parkinson to set up a showdown in the final against Gareth Jones from Dalton CC.
But Jones was no match for the Victoria Bowling Club player in that final as Gilpin eased to a well deserved 21-8 victory.
And the win not only secured Gilpin the trophy, which was presented by John Woodburn of competition sponsors Windermere Lake Cruises, but also earned him qualification for the Grand Masters competition.
