NETHERFIELD A edged out Burneside A 6-4 in a Kendal and District Bowling League Division One thriller on Tuesday night.

Burneside made a good start with Gary Bingham’s impressive 21-7 win over Peter Shephard while both David Jackson and David Heness claimed respective victories over Roy Crompton and John Capstick.

However Netherfield battled back when Ian France saw off Robert Atkinson 21-13 before Sue Hogarth defeated Barry Minshall 21-2.

Netherfield continued to dominate as debutant Robert Cartwright routed Colin Slinger 21-5 while Mark Wilson, who had also been promoted to the first team, edged out Kevin Bateman 21-14.

Burneside’s only others point came from Graham Barnes who defeated Julia Booker 21-16.

Holme A stay top after defeating their B team 8-2, Victoria A saw off Victoria B 7-3, Staveley A defeated Lindale A 8-2, while both Hale A and Windermere A won 7-3 against Levens A and Burton A respectively.

Burton B stay top of Division Two after winning 7-3 at Windermere B.
