IT was a busy but successful weekend for Kendal’s second XI as they not only qualified for two finals but also notched an impressive league win.

While the First XI lost at Blackpool, the seconds brought some cheer to the Shap Road club as they progressed into the John Scott Cup Final and also booked their place in the Palace Shield T20 Finals Day on Sunday.

Prior to their fine Palace Shield win against Vernon Carus on Saturday , they advanced to that T20 finals day when they defeated Grimsargh by 82 runs.

Joseph Dodds top scored with 70 while Chris Marshall posted an undefeated 64 as Kendal closed on 212-4, and Grimsargh could only manage 130-9 in reply, Dodds returning figures of 3-39.

The team travel to Mawdesley on Sunday where they play Tarleton in the second semi final at 2pm.

And 24 hours later, Kendal booked their place in the John Scott Cup Final after they won by 44 runs at Carlisle.

They posted an imposing 180-8, David Batty top scoring with 47, then restricted the hosts to 144, Andrew Dugdale taking 3-10.

And Kendal’s under 19s added to the celebrations when they defeated neighbours Netherfield by 18 runs in the group stages of the Vitality Under 19 Cup.
