VICTORIA A and Holme A continued to battle it out for the Kendal and District Bowling League Division One title after both teams picked up comfortable wins.

As the league enters the last few weeks of the season, Holme are nine points clear at the top after defeating relegation threatened Burneside 10-0, while defending champions Victoria A won 9-1 victory at Hale A.

Martin Gilpin picked up the best result, defeating Norman McLeod 21-10, while Alan Gilpin saw off Mike Proctor 21-14.

And Victoria continued to dominate thanks to Ian Nicholson’s 21-18 win over Dave Kent, and Jonathan Cooper and Ira Collier both claiming respective victories against Billy Caldwell and Ian France.

Matthew Simpson added further points for the visitors when he battled past Jonny Richardson 21-11, before Mick Simpson edged out John Reilly 21-18.

Hale's only win came through Derek Bell with a hard fought 21-18 victory against Keith Atkinson.

Windermere A won 6-4 at Staveley A, Holme B defeated Victoria B 7-3, Levens A eased past Netherfield A while Lindale and Burton A drew 5-5.

Burton B are six points clear at the top of Division Two after defeating Subscription A 9-1, but second placed Netherfield B faltered in their quest for the title when they lost 9-1 at Ambleside A.

Abbot Hall A, Windermere B and Allithwaite A all picked up respective 7-3 wins over Levens B, Kirkby Lonsdale A and Ambleside B, while Netherfield C scored a convincing 9-1 win over Crosthwaite A.

Andy Yare claimed the best result for Netherfield when he defeated Danny Jackson 21-4 before Dave Mitchell impressed with an important 21-16 win against Derek Wilson.

Victoria C are 10 points clear at the top of Division Three despite being held to a 5-5 draw at Ingleborough A.

Arnside A won 8-2 at Endmoor A, Milnthorpe A edged out Allithwaite B 6-4, while Sedbergh A defeated Allithwaite C 7-3.

In the other games, Lower Holker A battled past Holme C 8-2, while Heversham A and Windermere A drew 5-5.

Burneside B continue to dominate Division Four following their 9-1 win against Subscription B.

Bowness A ran out 7-3 winners over Lower Holker B, Lindale B defeated Hawkshead 8-2.

Netherfield D won 7-3 at Abbot Hall B while Victoria D and Arnside B drew 5-5.

In Division Five, the stand out game saw sixth placed Crosthwaite B win 6-4 at second placed Staveley B, while in Division Six Ambleside C edged out Milnthorpe C 7-3.
