A FANTASTIC effort by Matthew Fleming and Shane King in the triple jump and long saw them do Kendal Athletic Club proud in the weekend Northern League fixture.

Fleming set a lifetime triple jump best of 12.33 in spite of the blustery rain and crosswind which forced the cancellation of the high jump.

His second round jumps blew away the competition while King won the B match with 9.66.

Fleming was Kendal’s man of the match ,amassing 37 points by backing up his field events with 2nd in the 100m, 11.7secs, 6th in the 200m, 25.3secs and 4th in the 400m 59.2secs, narrowly ahead of King, who has the highest score of the season again.

In the B 100m Ollie Sanders was 3rd in 12.2 and was also 3rd in the A 800m with 2:05.2, with Reuben Copley 3rd in the B, 800, 2:08.1 and 3rd in the B 400m.

In the ladies' events, Lisa Screen took 4th in the hammer with 15.11m, 5th in the shot, long jump and discus, followed by 6th in the 100m and 200m to vie for Kendal’s woman of the match with Lisa Norton who took 3rd in the shot and 4th in the javelin, hammer, discus and 5th in the long jump, both exchanging coaching duties for competition in the testing conditions.
