The 2019 Kendal and District Bowling League season drew to a close on a dramatic final week of action where promotion and relegation was decided across all six divisions.

While Holme A picked up the Division One League trophy, the battle for survival reached a dramatic end after both Burneside and Burton A were relegated into Division Two.

Burneside A who finished bottom lost 6-4 at Victoria B while Burton A lost by the same score against Holme B.

However Staveley A survived by one point despite crashing to a heavy 10-0 defeat at second placed Victoria A.

In the other games Levens A finished third after seeing off Lindale A 8-2, before both Holme A and Windermere A picked up respective 7-3 victories against Hale A and Netherfield A.

Netherfield B won the Division Two title and were promoted into Division One after an impressive 8-2 win against Allithwaite A.

In what was a commanding performance, Mal Barker picked up the first points for the home team following his 21-13 victory over Mike Butcher, while Mark Wilson defeated Neville Chanin 21-14.

Robert Cartwright claimed the best result following his resounding 21-6 win over Brian Burton,with Bryan Boardley,Joyce Barker and Roger Townsend all claiming further wins for the hosts.

Allithwaite A who were relegated following the defeat picked up their points from James Jackson who defeated Julia Booker 21-15 and Alan Balderston who saw off Tony Dixon 21-17.

Burton B were also promoted after finishing in second place despite losing 9-1 at Crosthwaite A, Windermere B were relegated following their 8-2 defeat at Abbot Hall A.

Ambleside A finished sixth in the table after a resounding 8-2 victory over Levens B while Dave Nelson held his nerve to defeat Ken Ashcroft 21-18.

Kirkby Lonsdale A were also 8-2 winners when they saw off Netherfield C before Subscription A and Ambleside B battled out a 5-5 draw. In Division Three Victoria C and Milnthorpe A were promoted, Victoria defeated Lower Holker A 9-1, while Milnthorpe A routed relegated Endmoor A 10-0.

Allithwaite C finished bottom and were also relegated following their 9-1 defeat at Arnside A, in the other games Windermere C and Holme C both claimed respective 7-3 wins over Ingleborough A and Sedbergh A with Allithwaite B defeating Heversham B 8-2.Burneside B who had already clinched promotion from Division Four crashed to a 7-3 defeat at Lower Holker B, however Hawkshead secured promotion by one point after drawing 5-5 at Hale B.

At the foot of the table Hale B were relegated despite their draw with Hawkshead with the B Team missing out on aggregate while Langdale who had already been relegated won 6-4 at Subscription B. In the other games, Lindale B won 6-4 at Netherfield D, Bowness A battled past Arnside B 7-3, before Abbot A claimed the bragging rights when they saw off Victoria D 8-2. The stand out results of Division Five saw Staveley A secure promotion by one point following their 9-1 win at Endmoor B, while Holme D survived relegation despite losing 8-2 at Crosthwaite B. However relegation was confirmed for Windermere D and Heversham B who both lost their respective games. And in Division Six Silverdale A and Burton In Lonsdale celebrated promotion after both picked up emphatic wins which concluded a dramatic 2019 season.
