IN form Holme A have moved eight points clear at the top of the Hayes Garden World Floodlight Bowling League Premier Division after picking up two consecutive 10-0 wins.

After whitewashing host club Victoria A last week, they repeated that feat against relegation threatened Abbot Hall this week to stay on course to retain their title.

However, Holme were made to work hard for both wins, particularly last week when they put on a composed display against Victoria A on a wet and miserable night.

Liam Baxter and David Crayston defeated the Victoria pairing of Yvonne Gregory and Chris Wyatt 21-16, while Matty Stewart and Tom Baxter edged out Jonathan Cooper and Matthew Simpson 21-15.

Mike Fell and Bob Grisedale eased past Dan Hartley and Keith Atkinson 21-8 and there were 21-14 wins for the doubles partnerships of Dave McRoy and Steve Ashburn as well as Ellie Chandler and Ira Collier.

In the other games, Abbot Hall defeated Lindale 8-2 , Netherfield A edged out Milnthorpe 6-4 and Victoria B defeated Staveley 10-0.

This week saw Victoria A bounce back to form, defeating Lindale 8-2 as Holme were disposing of Abbot Hall.

In the The Cumberland Building Society League, Burneside are two points clear at the top after defeating Holme B 6-4.

Sedbergh were also 6-4 winners as they battled past Arnside, while Subscription and Allithwaite both picked up respective 8-2 wins against Heversham and Netherfield B.
