EFFORTS by Kendal to get back to winning ways in North West Division 1 North were unsuccessful as they fell to a narrow defeat at Bury.

And it was all the more frustrating for the visitors as they had taken the lead in the game and had looked full value for a victory for long periods.

Kendal started the game well and were rewarded for that lively start when they went ahead through Alex Hyman.

He picked up the rebound from a saved penalty corner shot and chipped the ball over the Bury keeper to make it 1-0.

The Greens were playing well and dominated most of the first half play, but although in control, they were not able to add to their score.

And they continued their good work in the second period as they had several opportunities to increase their lead, but unfortunately for them, they failed to convert chances into goals.

Bury were well set up to score on the counter and before long they equalised to make for a tense last 20 minutes.

Man of the match Aaron Screen worked hard to give Kendal the upper hand in midfield, but despite having the greater number of chances, Kendal could not find the winner.

And the Greens were then devastated when in the last play of the game, Bury found the net and the final whistle sounded just seconds later to confirm an unlucky 2-1 defeat for the visitors.
