BIG guns Martin and Alan Gilpin are joint top of the Victoria winter bowling singles league after both clocked up resounding wins in the second week of the competition.

Martin picked up an impressive 21-4 victory Alan Salisbury before defeating David Colloby 21-6 in the second game, while Alan saw off Salisbury 21-12 before defeating Andy Proctor 21-12.

Mick Simpson also won both his games, defeating Davis Thornborrow and Terry Mercer, while Steve Ashburn also had a successful afternoon with hard fought wins over Chris Wyatt and Tim King.

Joey Bean had a frustrating day when he suffered consecutive 21-16 defeats to Mercer and Thornborrow, but Alan Medcalf claimed an excellent 21-16 victory against Charles Graham while Ian Mitchell defeated both Tim Kings and June Kidd.

Five teams remain undefeated after the second week of the doubles league.

Sandy Glaciers top the table on aggregate while The Gilp & Son as well as Greenkeepers, Sue Van Wyatt and The Simpsons are also unbeaten.
