A TRIO of Kendal judo aces did their home club proud with superb performances at a top class competition in Germany.

Lauren Fox, Harvey Burns and Daisy Schwarzer were the only UK competitors, but out in a terrific show.

At her new weight, Under 52 kilos, Fox made up for just missing out on third place at the British National Championships by seeing off home competitor Yasmin Jegerlehner then took on another German, Finja Graf, in the semi-final.

An armlock saw her to victory and a spot in the final against Lisbeth Haustein from Bramfel, also in Germany.

The contest went to time with the Kendal player just losing out but taking home a creditable silver.

In the Under 60 kilo weight group, Burns beat Puriga Aslani from Dusseldorf with time to spare a his first round robin game then lost on a hold down to eventual winner Niklas Rink from Hamburg.

He then beat local favourite Maurice Lapuse who he beat with a hold down but then went down to an excellent throw by Max Bergmann in his final contest.

In the Under 57 kilo category, Schwarzer lost to an ippon throw in her first contest against eventual gold medallist Cheyenne Webdav which put her into the repechage where she met and beat Kamila Dalduev but then lost to Dulce Moreno.

However, Kendal senior coach Mike Liptrot was happy with her performance having just come back into competitive judo after a lay off.
